After two minutes into the overtime you realize your mistake. Team A has scored 3 pts and committed 2 foouls. Team B has scored 2 pts and committed 2 fouls. How is this handled?
a) All points are awarded for the teams that scored them
b) All fouls are cancelled
c) Restart the overtime
d) Time used off the clock remains off the clock
e) Allow teams to finish the overtime going in the wrong direction
f) Teams shall finish the overtime going the correct direction
What is (are) the correct answer(s)?
POTW 11-16-08 Correct answers were: D, E, and F
Team A never lost their opportunity for their T-I since they never were given the ball for such a T-I.
This is not a correctable error per Rule 2-10.
Although you made a mistake do not compound it by giving the ball to a Team for 2 T-I's. There is no rule basis for such a thing.
It is too late since the T-I has ended and Team B will keep the ball at the POI. You will then fix the AP arrow so Team A will get the next AP T-I. And of course you may want to have a discussion with the bench.
Play: It is Team A's turn for the next AP throw-in. There is a held ball situation and as you look to the bench the arrow is pointing to Team B. You hand Team B the ball for the throw-in and after the throw-in is complete the scorer's bench realizes the mistake and sound the horn. You blow your whistle since you have no idea what it is for and rule?
a) Award Team A the ball since they lost their opportunity for the T-I.
b) This is a correctable error
c) Do nothing but decide to give Team A the ball for the next 2 Throw-ins
d) It is too late to do anything since the T-I ended
e) Team B keeps the ball at the POI
f) Ensure the AP arrow is pointed toward Team A
