Steve Doran
POTW 1-31-09
Play: Where is the Throw-in location following the free-throws for a single flagrant foul?
a) Division line opposite the table
b) Division line either side of the floor
c) At the spot nearest where the ball location when play was stopped
d) Play will continue as a result of the last FT as with any other FT
What are the correct answer(s)?
POTW 1-24-09 Correct answer: C
Why is C the only correct answer?
Rule 3 covers substitutions. A6 may enter the game to shoot the FTs for the injured A1. Per Rule 3 Section 3 Article 4 the requirement on when players who have been replaced can re-enter are defined such that the clock must start prior to re-entry. In this case that pertains ONLY to A1. No time need come off the clock in order for A6 to be replaced. A1 must wait until the clock has been properly started before they are allowed back into the game. Therefore, a, b and d are incorrect. All of those things may occur. Only answer c is correct as A1 is the only one who has the restriction for re-entry.
Play: A1 is fouled on a try. He is injured to the point that he cannot attempt his FTs. A6 enters the game to shoot the FTs. Which of the following are true regarding A6 at this point?
a) A6 must remain in the game for at least on tick of the clock.
b) A6 may be substituted for by A1
c) A6 may be substituted for A7
d) No subs are allowed after the FT
